The Electric Motor
The electric Motor converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. For volume and mass less important than a heat engine, it has an equivalent power.
There are two main types of DC electric engine applicable to electric motorcycles: the brushed and brushless :
- « Brushed » engine, as their name indicates, have brush that make contact between the stator (structure the motor) and the rotor (rotating part). This involves friction between the two main parts of the engine.
- « Brushless » are « brushless », thus there is no friction between the rotor and the stator. This type of engine has a very little friction and offers superior performance than brushed motors. It is this type of engine chosen by Electric Motion for its electric vehicles.
